Safari Day 1

We leave Nairobi for the Aberdare,a mountain range directly north of Nairobi. The mountain is a fairyland, awesome in it’s majesty and beauty. The highest point of this range is Ol Donyo Satima,(“the mountain of the young bull” in the Maa language of the Masai) which reaches 3998 meters. The forest in this range is rich in wildlife ;elephant and rhino, warthog, bush pig and grant forest pig, waterbuck, duiker,,dikdik, bungo and reedbuck are all to be seen.Within the canopy, the black and white colombus monkey performs it’s aerial acrobatics and the Sykes’ monkey and the black faced vervet are also to be found. The carnivores are represented by the lion, usually more hairy and spotted than in the plains. The leopard and the sewal Birds are not only plentiful but dazzling. The crowned eagle (which eats monkeys) is everywhere. Accommodation for the night will be at one of luxurious Tree Top Lodges situated in the lush forests of the Aberdares.

Safari Day 2

We shall leave the Aberdare in the morning for Lake Nakuru National Park and hopefully get there in time for an evening Game drive. This park is not only the home of wildlife like the endangered black rhino, the rothchild’s giraffe, the waterbuck and predators like the lion and leopard, but is wild famous as the location of the pink flamingo whose vast numbers literally turn the Lake horizon pink. We spend the night in the tastefully designed Lake Nakuru Lodge, whose noble efforts in wildlife conservation are well appreciated.

Safari Day 3 and 4

We shall leave Lake Nakuru after a morning game drive and head for the World famous Masai Mara reaching there in time for an evening game drive. Everything about this wildlife is outstanding. The wildlife is abundant and varied and the gentle rolling grasslands ensure that the animals are never out of sight.Birds too are prolific. Well over 450 species have been recorded including 57 species of birds of prey. Mara’s foremost attraction is the hundreds of years old annual migration of the wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti in the Northern Tanzania through the Mara plains to the Kenyan border in search of fresh grazing grounds. The herds draw raving packs of predators especially hyenas and lions, and thousands do not complete the journey.More die while trying to cross the swirling muddy waters of the Mara and Tarek rivers. The combination of a gentle climate, scenic splendor and untold numbers of wildlife makes Masai Mara Kenya’s most popular inland tourist spot.We shall have dinner where we will be spending the night. The fourth day will be spent game viewing and in search of the big five.

Safari Day 5

After a morning game drive we shall leave the Mara for Nairobi.
